What are those Great White Sharks really doing in the waters off the Northern New England coast? Is the RNC behind a sinister plot to eradicate North Eastern Liberal voters?
The Maine coast is known for many things, the beautiful beaches of the southern coast, and the rocky shores of the mid-coast and down-east regions. One thing that it is not known for is shark attacks. This summer has seen the exception to that. A woman, on vacation from New York, was killed swimming off Bailey’s Island, near Harpswell. This area of the mid-coast is north of Portland. A shark attack in these waters has never happened before.
Is this the result of climate change warming the waters off the New England Coast? Or is it something more man made, more sinister?
I asked myself that question while swimming at Ogunquit earlier this week. Another 9 foot shark was spotted one town up from where I was boogie boarding, but I didn’t know that until I got home. There I was, a survivor of watching JAWS as a kid, thinking I was safe in the cold water of the Atlantic in Maine, and just like that there are sharks populating our previously safe beaches.
