Staycation Ideas that Don’t Suck

We’re all sick of being stuck at home. The alternative, taking a traditional vacation is also a bit sickening to think about. Fear of flying, having to use public restrooms, eating out for all meals, hotels rooms that have been occupied by who knows who, are enough of a deterrent to make all but the least faint of heart stay home. However, for many of us, myself included, there is all this time to do, well, nothing! A “Staycation” doesn’t have to suck. It can consist of a planned time period of activities that you love, done in a different location than where you typically do them, e.g., at home. I blocked off a week, and decided to just enjoy myself as if I weren’t here, but was indeed in some exotic local. I only had to look around my same Los Livingroom to know it was time to go visit my Puerta Backyarda to get some needed R&R. I put on my sunscreen, grabbed a Corona Light and took the plunge!

First plan, was to change up my food. I live in a small town with limited things to do. However, there are at least half a dozen good restaurants within 10 miles of my house. All are doing take out and/or delivery or have just begun having indoor dining. I decided that as part of my Staycation, I would not cook (unless recreationally) for a week. I started by ordering in breakfast on my first day. It was scrumptious, biscuits and gravy and bacon with eggs over easy and toast. I didn’t need to…
