The 3 Things I’m Doing to Lose Weight During the Pandemic

Covid restrictions have kept me home. Staying home means baking, eating and being sedentary. Here are the three things I’m doing to reverse the effects of my stay at home habits.

When Covid restrictions were imposed here in Maine last spring I was busy working part time and writing what would become a first novel. My job kept me out of the house for 12 hours a day, 2 to 3 days a week. On my many days off I was busy exploring Maine’s coastal communities and mountain trails with Wallace the Airedale or in my office at my laptop writing. Once a week I met with a group of other writers in my community and we shared gossip, advice and our work. It was a good time for me. I had seedlings started for a large summer garden, and I was planning a trip to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland with my lifelong BFF for our sixtieth birthdays.

The birthday trip, planned for June, was cancelled rather quickly once the reality of Covid hit. My garden plan expanded, my writing group started meeting on Zoom and an acquaintance hired me to cook for him twice a week while restaurants and bars were locked down.
