The Covid-15 — Who gives a damn
Many of my friends on Facebook are beginning to complain about a new phenomenon, the Covid-15. This is not a new strain of virus, but it is a potential new health risk. It can be asymptomatic for those of us stuck at home in our sweat pants, but symptoms begin to present as the economy opens up and citizens are allowed to leave their homes. A common complaint among sufferers of this newly discovered malady is its resistance to drugs and other traditional therapies. It can be chronic and deep-seated, but alas it is easily diagnosed with a simple jean test. No, I am not ignorant and spelling the word jean wrong. I am talking about the jeans that go up over your thighs and need to be fastened at your waist. In the post Covid world let us not judge ourselves by our pants size, but let us begin to care more about the comfort and nourishment we get from the food that got us to the size we are. So like the 15 pounds that college freshmen often gain, the “freshman 15”, the Covid 15 is our bodies response to being left alone in houses filled with comfort food.
My own body has rewarded me with a large number (one I will not disclose) of added pounds to my midsection where they were most unwanted. But I am a cook, and time alone with just Wallace the dog has sent me into my kitchen with creativity brimming.
